The jawline is defined by a curvilinear shadow from the mandibular angle to the front of the chin.
In an oblique view, the shadow framing the jawline has a "hockey stick" shape. This is generally considered an aesthetically pleasing feature in both men and women.
Irregularities in jawline definition arise from a decreased volume of midface fat compartments and mandibular bone loss, with soft tissue ptosis in the jaw resulting in loss of jawline definition, the mandibular line and angle.
There are several surgical and non-surgical options to correct your jawline. In patients who do not wish to undergo surgery, the use of hyaluronic acid fillers is becoming increasingly popular. This filler is effective and safe for correcting volume loss, with high patient satisfaction rates.
