Lipotransfer is increasingly recognized as an important procedure to correct volume loss.
Fat has many qualities of an ideal filling. It is autologous and, therefore, completely biocompatible. It is also cheap and abundant. The main disadvantage of transfer is the greater degree of patient recovery after the procedure. While volume restoration with autologous fat transfer appears to work in all patients, the degree of improvement seen in each patient is different.
The use of adipose tissue for the treatment of facial and body improvement and remodeling in patients who present soft tissue atrophy due to aging and loss due to congenital deformities and/or acquired pathologies has proven to be attractive because it is easy to obtain, cheap and compatible with the host, and can be easily and repeatedly removed as needed without fear of allergic reactions or foreign bodies.
