Otoplasty (in operating room)

There are many types of pinna deformities. The most commonly seen by surgeons is the protruding ear.

These can be unilateral or bilateral. Minor degrees do not need surgery, but severe degrees do because they are often a source of bullying.

Bandaging/taping in the neonatal period usually does not achieve complete resolution.

Surgical correction should be considered from the age of 6 years and always with patient acceptance.
