Ranula and Mucocele

A ranula is a mucocele arising in the floor of the mouth, secondary to obstruction of the salivary ducts of the sublingual glands*. 

Most mucoceles tend to resolve spontaneously. Expectant management is advised. Excision if persistence or according to size.
